Air Central Texas was formed by the Capital Area Council of Governments to serve as the region’s hub for air quality information. Air Central Texas is focused on increasing awareness around Central Texas Air Quality and to consolidate the Clean Air Coalition outreach and education effects into one focused place, which should make outreach and education simpler for the public and more efficient for Clean Air Coalition partners.

Air Pollution is the contamination of the air by harmful gases or particulates. Air pollution can impair the health of people or other animals, kill plants or stop them growing properly, or cause some other kinds of nuisance (reduced visibility, or an unpleasant odor).
Air pollution alerts are announced when air quality is predicted to be in the unhealthy range or higher for sensitive groups in parts of or the entire Central Texas region. TCEQ will send out pollutant-specific air pollution alerts when pollutants such as ozone cause air quality to reach the unhealthy range. You can sign up for just Ozone Action Day alerts, but you can also sign up for TCEQ’s more comprehensive daily air quality forecasts.
